Help us help you…. burn a crook for cash!
Parker County Crimestoppers is a non-profit crime prevention program established in 1981 by the Criminal Justice Division of the Governor’s Office. Crimestoppers was established by local police agencies to deter crime and pay for anonymous information that leads to the arrest or indictment of the person(s) involved in criminal activity. Crimestoppers obtains its funding through probation fees that are collected from convicted offenders from our local county and district courts.
Crimestoppers pays out rewards for anonymous tips that are received by our hotline number. Each tip is evaluated and then forwarded to the proper investigating agency. Once a tip has been validated as good information, the receiving agency notifies the coordinator that they were able to obtain an arrest warrant or indictment based on the information given. The coordinator validates the information given and then coordinates with the board to pay the anonymous caller. Each tip given by these callers may receive up to $1,000.00 for the information.
All callers may remain anonymous. They are given a tip number by the call taker and are referred to by that number only, not by name. This tip number is how the agencies track the tips given by these callers. The goal of the program is to solve crimes and deter future crimes from occurring. Crimestoppers does not seek out the identity of the callers. Crimestoppers values the information given and will not release the identity or information of any caller that privdes us with these clues.
In 2004, Crimestoppers received over 523 anonymous tips that resulted in over 52 cases being cleared. These tips led to 51 arrests throughout Parker County. The program also paid out over $14,000 in tip rewards. These same tips helped Weatherford and Parker County law enforcement officials recover over $25,000 in stolen property and narcotics.
We invite anyone who has information that could lead to the arrest or indictment of the person or persons involved in any crime to call Parker County Crimestoppers today at (817) 599-5555 or 1-800-942-STOP.
