SWAT

The Parker County Regional SWAT team is a multijurisdictional team that was originally started in 1995 as a joint venture between the Parker County Sheriff’s Office and the Weatherford Police Department. Currently, the team is made up of multiple SWAT operators, SWAT Medics, and Crisis Negotiators from the following Parker County Agencies:

  • Parker County Sheriff’s Office
  • Weatherford Police Department
  • Weatherford Fire Department
  • Parker County Precinct 2 Constable Office
  • Parker County Hosptial District EMS.

The Parker County Regional SWAT Team’s primary mission is the resolution of dangerous and/or difficult police situations outside the realm of the ordinary patrol response, through the use of developed skills, tactics, and specialized equipment and capabilities. The team is responsible for addressing special threat situations including serving high-risk search and arrest warrants, barricaded subjects, hostage situations, and engaging heavily armed or fortified criminals.

The Parker County Regional SWAT team is a part-time team from members who participate in this specialized unit as a collateral duty to their regular assignments. In addition to their regular duties, SWAT personnel train 16 hours each month on a variety of tactics. Personnel assigned to the SWAT team are subject to call back 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to handle any SWAT related incident.

Parker County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Ben Overholt is the Team Commander and Weatherford Police Department Corporal James Allain the Team Leader.
