PRESS RELEASE
ParkerCounty Sheriff’s deputies arrested an Azle man after his girlfriend reported he assaulted her and held against her will.
The 28-year-old female victim told deputies she and the suspect, identified as Michael Dwayne Cosby, 44, were arguing Friday, March 15, 2013, in the 1200 block of Oakridge Road where she resided with Cosby in a travel trailer.
She stated at one point during the argument, Cosby choked her until “almost blacking out,” and assaulted her causing multiple injures to her face, back, neck, arms, shins and knees.
The victim said she was afraid for her life as Cosby locked her in a bedroom inside the trailer for three days. The victim repeatedly begged Cosby to take her to a medical center where she receives scheduled treatments for an illness, every two days.
The victim stated she attempted to escape at one point, but reported Cosby caught her and dragged her by her hair back into the trailer.
The victim said she eventually convinced Cosby to take her for her treatment. She told deputies Cosby made her cover her injuries with makeup prior to taking her.
Cosby dropped her off and then phoned the facility, stating he would take her from the treatment center and nothing would stand in his way.
A medical staff member at the treatment center dialed 9-1-1 for the victim.
Sheriff’s investigators obtained a warrant for Cosby. He was arrested without further incident and charged with assault causes bodily injury impeding breath/circulation of a family member.
As of Wednesday morning, Cosby remained incarcerated at the Parker County Jail. His bond has not been set.
The medical treatment facility staff also requested a criminal trespass warning against Cosby.
