06-10-2013 Deputies Make Marijuana Arrest
JUNE 10, 2013.
PRESS RELEASE
ParkerCounty Sheriff’s Deputies arrested an Azle man on possession of marijuana charges this weekend.
Sheriff Larry Fowler said the incident occurred Sunday, June 9, 2013 at around 2:30 a.m., in the 4000 block of Midway Road, in Springtown.
While on routine patrol, deputies observed two males walking down the road toward a vehicle. Deputies stopped to investigate and possibly lend assistance when they observed a strong odor consistent with that of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle and individuals.
Upon questioning the subjects, who by then had entered the vehicle, deputies observed two bags of suspected marijuana on the floor board in plain view and within reach of the driver.
The driver, identified as Cameron James Swink, 20, told deputies the marijuana belonged to him. A search of the vehicle revealed the discovery of a box of clear plastic baggies along with digital scales, which are commonly used in the sale, use and distribution of narcotics. A further search of the vehicle revealed a portable safe in the trunk which contained five additional baggies containing even more suspected marijuana.
Swink told deputies the safe belonged to a family member. Swink was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana over four ounces/under five pounds. His bond was set at $10,000. As of Monday afternoon, Swink remained incarcerated at the Parker County Jail.
The passenger was released at the scene.
