September 10, 2015. Suspect Arrested After Cocaine Found in Car with Child, Loaded Weapon

Weatherford-Parker County Special Crimes Unit arrested a man Wednesday afternoon for possessing a large amount of manufactured crack cocaine with a 1-year-old female child inside the vehicle along with a loaded weapon.

The arrest came after a traffic stop was conducted due to a broken taillight, around 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, in the 2500 block of South Main Street. During the traffic stop, officers observed a white powdery substance in the suspect’s lap. The suspect had been the focus of an ongoing investigation led SCU members.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and officers discovered a large amount of crack cocaine and the handgun. Officers reported a bag containing a single rock of crack cocaine weighing more than 43 grams was found inside the glove box of the 2007 Dodge Caliber, driven by the suspect. A loaded .380 handgun was discovered in the driver’s side floorboard at the suspect’s feet. The handgun also had a round chambered. The serial numbers of the weapon had been scratched off. Another rock of crack cocaine weighing over 6 grams was discovered in the driver’s side door panel along with a small amount of marijuana and a set of digital scales commonly used to weigh narcotics for distribution.

The suspect, identified as Terrance Quointrel Johnson, 25, of Fort Worth, was previously convicted of a narcotics charge in Tarrant County. Johnson was charged with third-degree felony unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and first-degree felony manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance penalty group one, 4 to 200 grams.

SCU members said the street value for such a high amount of crack cocaine was typical to net nearly $5,000.

As of Thursday morning, Johnson remained incarcerated at the Parker County Jail, His bond had not been set.

Child Protective Services was called to the scene to take care and control of the child.

The suspect’s vehicle was towed.
