PRESS RELEASE

Parker County Sheriff’s deputy arrested a man after he voluntarily admits to possessing marijuana.

Sheriff Larry Fowler said the deputy was parked on the shoulder of the road in his patrol vehicle with his red and blue lights activated early this morning around 1 a.m. The deputy was parked in the 8800 block of South FM 730 after completing an unrelated traffic stop when a gray 1998 Plymouth Neon stopped in front of his patrol vehicle.

The Neon was driven by a 24-year-old Azle man identified as Tyler Robert Adams. The deputy approached Adams to see if he needed assistance. The deputy observed Adams to have very slowed speech with bloodshot, glassy eyes. Adams was only able to open his eyes half-way when speaking with the deputy. The deputy also observed a strong odor of burnt marijuana emitting from Adams and the vehicle. The deputy inquired about Adams condition and appearance and the odor coming from the Neon.

Adams told the deputy he had a marijuana pipe located in a silver and black lockbox in the floorboard of the vehicle, when in fact, the deputy discovered Adams had six glass marijuana pipes which all contained burnt residue, inside the lockbox.

A search of the vehicle also revealed a purple jar containing 4.7 grams of a leafy green substance known to law enforcement as marijuana. A handwritten message was labeled on the top of the jar stating, “Stash it! Storage Jar.”

A metal grinder containing an additional .8 grams of suspected marijuana was also located and seized.

Adams was arrested, transported and booked into the Parker County Jail. He was charged with possession of marijuana under two ounces.

His Neon was towed from the scene.
