PRESS RELEASE
CRIME OF THE WEEK
Parker County Sheriff’s investigators are seeking the man who shot and killed a 26-year-old male earlier today.
The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m., in the 200 block of Joyce Street. When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered the victim lying on the ground of a duplex parking area with a gunshot wound to his lower abdomen region.
A witness reported seeing a white male, between 20 and 30 years of age, flee the scene on foot headed east toward a wooded area. The suspect was reportedly wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.
A nearby elementary school was notified and Weatherford Police responded immediately to assist in securing the school and neighborhood.
“No students were on the premises due to school being out of session for summer break,” said Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler. “A search of the area by law enforcement officers was unsuccessful in locating the suspect. We encourage anyone who has information about the suspect’s identity or location to contact us immediately.”
Fowler added the suspect is to be considered armed and dangerous, and should not be approached.
You may remain anonymous by contacting the Parker County Crime Stoppers Hotline at (817) 599-5555, or you may contact the Parker County Sheriff’s Office at (817) 594-8845. Crime Stoppers will pay up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest or indictment of the suspect involved.
The victim was transported by ground ambulance to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, where he underwent surgery. Sheriff’s investigators were later notified that the victim succumbed to his injuries. His identity is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin.
