Juvenile Suspects in Custody Following Drive-By Shooting March 20, 2018.

by on March 20, 2018

PRESS RELEASE

Sheriff’s investigators took two juveniles into custody following a weekend drive-by residential shooting.

Early Friday morning (March 16), a drive-by shooting was reported on Cactus View Drive in Springtown. No injuries were reported, but a bullet struck a lamp in close proximity where the residents were sleeping within the home.

A pick-up truck was also reported stolen from a home on Pine Bluff Lane located several blocks away from the shooting incident.

Through a comprehensive investigation, sheriff’s investigators connected the juveniles to the cases, and identified the suspects Monday evening, taking them into custody.

Both juvenile suspects are males, ages 15 and 16. Their identities are being withheld due to their ages.

The juveniles used the stolen pick-up truck during the shooting, which was also recovered Monday in a vacant lot near a well site in Springtown.

Both juveniles have been charged with deadly conduct. Theft of a motor vehicle charges are also pending the investigation.

The cases will be filed with the Parker County District Attorney’s Office for consideration of prosecution.

Sheriff Larry Fowler said the actions displayed by the juveniles are not considered pranks or jokes, they are potential deadly crimes.

“We are pleased at the outcome of this case in which our Criminal Investigation Division conducted these investigations,” said Sheriff Fowler. “We also count it fortunate that no injuries occurred. We could have easily been investigating a homicide case with how close the suspects came to the drive-by shooting victims and with a bullet which was recovered from inside the cab of the truck where one of the suspects fired the stolen weapon.”

No further information regarding this case will be released due to the ongoing investigation and the age of the suspects.
