PRESS RELEASE
ParkerCountySheriff’s Investigators are investigating a weekend shooting incident.
A 25-year-old female reported her vehicle’s windshield was struck twice while traveling in the 600 block ofLake Country Drive, Sunday around 2:30 p.m.
The woman reported she heard several gunshots and two objects hit her windshield, breaking it.
Deputies responded to the call, discovering several adult males in the 100 block of Atwood, a near-by street, had been “target” shooting in the backyard of a residence during a Father’s Day party.
One of the subjects stated he and three other men had set up “a safe shooting environment,” with the targets facing away from the roadway and a wooded area located behind the targets.
The subject told deputies he was not trying to be irresponsible or malicious and thought the area chosen for the target practice was “OK.”
A deadly conduct case was filed and is currently under investigation.
ParkerCountySheriff Larry Fowler said the report marks the second shooting incident to occur in the last several weeks.
“Once again, we have an incident where someone was extremely lucky in that no one was injured in the mishandling of a firearm,” Fowler said. “We can not stress enough the vital importance of proper weapons training and handling.”
