11-15-2012 Multi-Agency Arrest of Fugitive

Parker County Fugitive Unit members and U.S. Marshals enlisted the assistance of the Tarrant County Auto Theft Task Force in apprehending and arresting a Weatherford man who escaped from Wichita Falls in September.

Billy Clay Wade, 48, of Weatherford, was sent to North Texas State Hospital in Wichita Falls earlier this year, under orders from District Judge Trey Loftin, after a trial was held, naming Wade as a suspect in several Parker County felony cases.

Wade was sentenced to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for a 30-year sentence stemming from numerous offenses, and was released on parole in 2011.

Wade made his way to ParkerCounty after his parole, where Parker County Sheriff’s investigators connected him to several residential burglary investigations, and other offenses, including a parole violation. Those offenses landed Wade to appear before Judge Loftin.

Officials reported Wade used a fire extinguisher to break a window at the hospital in order to escape Sept. 10, 2012.

FAST members and U.S. Marshals immediately initiated an investigation, leading them to Wade’s location in Fort Worth, where he assumed the name of a former class mate. Wade was found in possession of a Dodge truck, reported stolen out of WichitaCounty and a travel trailer reported stolen out of CallahanCounty.

Investigators said about $60,000 worth of stolen property was located inside the trailer, including a 60” TV, tools and electronics.

FAST members, U.S. Marshals and Fort Worth Auto Theft Unit members arrested Wade without further incident.

Warrants for prior charges against Wade were reissued, and he was booked into the Parker County Jail. Wade is being held without bond for an array of charges, including three burglary of a habitation charges, evading arrest detention, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, theft, criminal mischief and bail jumping. Wade was also charged with additional warrants out of TarrantCounty.

Escape charges may also be pending in WichitaCounty.
