11-28-2012 Man Arrested for Beating Mother with Hammer
ParkerCounty Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Cresson man, charging him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a family member after his mother reported he beat her with a hammer.
ParkerCounty Sheriff Larry Fowler said the 9-1-1 call came in just before 7 p.m., Tuesday, in the 100 block of Brook Drive, in Cresson.
The caller stated her son assaulted her after an argument and fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.
The 54-year-old victim was taken to a Fort Worth hospital by ground ambulance. She was treated for lacerations, scrapes and bruises on the upper portions of her body. She was treated and later released.
The victim told deputies her son threatened her and hit her in the head and upper body using the hammer and attempted to gouge her eyes out, following a domestic dispute.
Sheriff’s deputies searched the area, finding the suspect around 1:30 a.m., on Goforth Road.
Jacob Dwight Farren, 30, was taken into custody without further incident. The hammer was discovered in the vehicle and seized into evidence.
Farren remained incarcerated at the Parker County Jail. His bond has not been set as of early Wednesday morning.
