JANUARY 8, 2013.
PRESS RELEASE
ParkerCounty Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Springtown man in connection with a burglary Monday evening at a Springtown business.
ParkerCounty Sheriff Larry Fowler said deputies responded to the call just before 10 p.m. in the 1200 block of East Highway 199.
Deputies observed the doors of the building to be damaged. They cleared the building, not finding any suspects.
A van was missing from the business and was later located on East Highway 199. Numerous tools and equipment were stolen from the van, which had been “stripped.”
Deputies conducted an initial investigation of the premises where the van had been recovered, finding fire and smoke coming from a warehouse.
Deputies made contact with a male on the scene, identified as Danny Wayne Turner, 51, who reported the fire was caused by burning wire.
Local firefighters extinguished the fire and ventilated the smoke from the building. Deputies discovered the stolen items located inside the warehouse.
Turner implicated himself to deputies in the burglary of the building and stealing the van. Turner also stated he was attempting to burn the insulation off of the stolen wire.
Turner was arrested and charged with burglary of a building and telecommunication service theft.
As of Tuesday morning, Turner remained incarcerated. His bond had not been set.
