SCU Recovers Stolen Travel Trailer via Tip 01-09-2014

Weatherford-Parker County Special Crimes Unit recovered a stolen travel trailer Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 8, 2014.

An anonymous tip led SCU investigators to a residence in the 900 block of Lynch Bend Road in Springtown, where a travel trailer was locate which was reported stolen in Wise County.

Investigators spoke with the homeowner, identified as James William Curtis Jr, 52, who told investigators although he recently began living in the travel trailer, he was keeping the trailer for a friend and his permanent residence was in a single-wide trailer located next to the travel trailer.

During the investigation, SCU members discovered Curtis had multiple outstanding warrants for possession of a controlled substance, theft, driving while license invalid, failure to maintain financial responsibility and defective equipment. 

The travel trailer was confirmed stolen out of Wise County. Curtis was booked into the Parker County Jail on the outstanding warrants. The investigation was turned over to the Wise County Sheriff’s Office. Charges for the theft are pending that investigation.

As of Thursday morning, Curtis’ bond had not been set. His fines total $988.
