PRESS RELEASE

Parker County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division is investigating a double shooting and assault call, which left three people with severe injuries.

Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said the incident was reported by Azle hospital staff at 5:42 a.m., this morning.

Azle Police reported the incident occurred at a residence in the 400 block of Calhoun Bend Road near FM 730.

While Sheriff’s deputies and investigators were en route to the scene, they discovered a vehicle belonging to one of the victims at the intersection of FM 730 and Calhoun Bend Road. The vehicle sustained several bullet holes and contained substantial evidence relating to the incident.

Sheriff’s CID Sgt. Ricky Montgomery said witness statements and evidence led investigators to discover that a large party had taken place at the residence the previous evening, where more than 50 party-goers had attended, including underage drinkers.

Montgomery also stated the assault and shooting incidents stemmed from a verbal argument between party-attendees, where multiple suspects are being sought.

Sheriff’s investigators believe two victims were shot with a small caliber handgun during the altercation.

Victim No. 1 is reported to be a 19-year-old male, who suffered a gunshot wound to his left arm. He is believed to be in fair but stable condition. Victim No. 2 was identified as a 17-year-old male, who sustained a gunshot wound to his right shoulder. He is also believed to be in fair but stable condition. Victim No. 3 was identified as a 24-year-old male, who is in serious condition after suffering a physical assault about his head and face.

As of Sunday afternoon, all three victims were still hospitalized but are believed to have suffered non-life threatening injuries.

“At this time, the investigation is active and ongoing,” Sgt. Montgomery said. “Due to the severe nature of the offense, we are not identifying the victims or suspects in this case, and no further details about the incident will be released to the public until an arrest has been made.”

Sheriff Fowler said the incident is one of numerous calls and investigations the Sheriff’s Office has generated from the address since 2007, ranging from animal, narcotics and theft calls to aggravated robbery, shots heard and assaults.

“Given the nature of the current investigation and the amount of previous calls, special attention will be directed to this address as well as the case,” Fowler said.
