PRESS RELEASE

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a suspect in the homicide case of Linda Surginer Preston, 47.

Hector Trejo, 28, was recently paroled from the Texas Department of Corrections on a robbery charge. Trejo was arrested on a parole violation.

ParkerCounty Sheriff Larry Fowler said the victim rented a residence from Trejo’s family members.

“The initial investigation indicated the suspect was involved in her death,” Fowler said. “A follow-up investigation by the Parker County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division and the U.S. Marshals Task Force led investigators to the recovery of the victim’s vehicle. The suspect was subsequently apprehended at an apartment complex near Las Vegas Trail and Calmont Street in Fort Worth. The suspect was further interviewed by the Texas Rangers and CID investigators. During those interviews, the suspect implicated himself in the death of Linda Surginer Preston. According to the suspect, an argument ensued between the victim and the suspect regarding Trejo wanting to use the victim’s vehicle and her refusal.”

Fowler added an additional arrested of another individual is anticipated in the case for the charge of making a false report to a peace officer.
