12-21-2012 Weapons Recovered Using GPS Unit
ParkerCounty Sheriff’s deputies recovered several weapons Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, which were reported stolen.
Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said the case was initiated more than a week prior when a North Richland Hills man reported several items, including a hunting rifle, binoculars and a propane heater had been stolen from his deer leased property located in the 1000 block of Southwest Front Street in Millsap.
Earlier this week, the complainant placed another weapon in the deer stand located on the leased property which was later reported stolen, only this time, the firearm contained a GPS unit, which was traced to an address in the 600 block of Gholson Road in Millsap.
Sheriff’s investigators and deputies conducted and investigation, leading to a search of the home, which revealed numerous weapons reported in other theft incidents.
A juvenile male suspect was captured on video earlier that same day in an unrelated case. The suspect was identified as the same juvenile in the current theft case.
Sheriff’s investigators located several additional weapons hidden within the residence of the juvenile. All weapons are believed to have been reported stolen within recent months in connection with several cases. Sheriff’s investigators believe all weapons recovered within the residence cleared several active theft of firearm cases.
The juvenile was detained and released into the custody of a north Texas juvenile detention facility.
